The sweetness of ripe bananas is always welcome anytime of the day but yesterday I treated myself with one of the most delicious breakfast delights that I've ever tried.
I skillet fried a couple of ripe plantains and forgot about bread, cookies or cereal bowl for a day and went back to the days of my rich and happy childhood.
This is a very common delight throughout the entire Northern region of Brazil and it can be enjoyed in the afternoons as well. Simple and flavorful, "banana-da-terra"* is the perfect match for a homemade cup of coffee - not expresso, nor americano, but boiled in water and sugar and strained...old fashion.
Cut them on the diagonal. Use a large skillet, melt the butter on medium heat and let the foam to subsides and then add the slices of plantains...fry on all sides until golden. Remove it to a plate and sprinkle sugar and cinnamon on top.
It's fantastic, exotic and Daliciuus™.
And remember Brazilians like coffee sweet as love, strong as sin and hot as hell.
* plaintain in Portuguese...its a variety of banana.
I am a jewelry designer and an avid cook. I do believe that all we experience in our lives must have a flavor. For me not only food must be delicious but anything you put your heart in it go to be DaliciuUs. Welcome to my world!

A tropical Sangria for mom
Last Saturday, I had a great time with my mom. We stayed all day at home just chatting and hunging out - we laugh, we danced and we cried....a very Almodovarian day.
She was visiting and I decided to make us a pitcher of Sangria - my special recipe.
I bought this rose wine from Spain and I added: triple sec, brandy, lime juice, lots of sugar, apples, red grapes, orange slices and lots of ice. To top the whole pitcher I added sparkling water...bubbles are always welcome!
The result is below.
Strawberries and orange slice for garnishing. Daliciuus™ twice!
Tchim, tchim!!!

I got no time 4 !!!
No, I did not give up on Daliciuus™.
I have been working a lot, the book's manuscript is done and Spring is here.
I will blogging more than ever... at least I hope so. lol
My "I got no time 4" this week goes to: Kate Gosselin.
I don't understand why she is in the spotlight. No offense, but I never watched her reality show and did not give a ===== about her life.
I always thought that to be sucessful in life you should work hard and be talented..at least have some talent.
I am still thinking that pop culture is beyond all the trash we have been witnessing in the media these days; it's part of what Andy said many years ago but man, I haaaaaaate that!

My best from the Oscar
The Oscar 2010 was okay.
I don't understand how somebody can be nominated 17 times and still not be awarded.
I think that Sandra Bullok's work is overrated.
I am happy for Monique..but to me Meryl or Sedibi should've taken the statue home.
And I dont hink SB long gold dress wasn't that special at all..old classic Hollywood style...if I had to pick an old Hollywood style dress I'd stick with Nicole Ritchie..she looks so mature and regal..I loved it!
Getting back to the women, ny number one look was JLO...MARAVILHOZA !!!

I got no time 4 !!!
I got no time 4 this week goes to demo crashers.
"Demo crashers" are those fellow designers that stop in the middle of your demo and when you start to answer a third party question that "friend" jumps on that subject without being asked to, because he or she assumes that he or she is an expert on that subject...in other words I have no time 4 people who acts like they are bigger than they really are... In Portuguese it's called: TASSIA !!!

Super model bar
I was in Manhattan last week for the Alexandre Hercochvitch Fall 2010 runway show and it was fabulous. It was my first time @ Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and was incredible to learn so much about the event itself.
Inside the tent, a large lobby beuatifully decorated and surrounded by booths of the sponsors. There was plenty of cocktails, food( snacks), water, iced coffe and I could not believe the quantity of bloggers in the fashion world. And lots os wannabe...hummmmmalso lots of people streaming live videos.
I got there and was directed to the invitation check in and then was re directed to the begining of a line on the left side reserved to all the guest that didnt' have a sit assigned at all. So I got a pink card only with the designer's name on it and went to the line... sooooooo chic!
All the "important" people got a beige card that meant that those people did have a sit assigned.
So you stand in line next to the entrance of the show area and all of those VIP people passed by you and they look at you holding your pink card and you feel like you are traveling on coach and you have to wait for the first class to sit and find their best angle to see the show.
I did not count but let's say I saw 350 VIP people passing by and the line behind me, that was really short, in less than 15 minutes was packed of NIP (non important people)... It was refreshing to realize that I wasn't the only one with a pink card on hands...and some people try to hide the card...how niiiice!
So, after almost 1hr 15min in line (yes darling, because NIP always arrives early to these gigs) they started collecting the pink cards and all the NIP people rush like cows to the area praying to find an available chair.
I 've noticed after entered such sacred place that I would be better off if I would stand...I would have an excelent view of the catwalk...there were 6 rows of chair on each side so there wasn't rows and rows of people standing....but I had to sit since my French hostess found me a place and she made sure I got that since was my first time in such exclusive event. So I did. But the truth is that if you are not on first or second row you don't get to see the shoes at all. I was on fourth row and I could hardly see the shoes. On the other hand if you standing in the back you can see the entire show with no obstruction at all. The most annoying thing was the cameras recording videos and snipping shots during the show. I decided to enjoy the moment and I did not want to take pictures on top of holding a pink card...that would be too much of non importance for a single man.
The show started 45 min later and last around 15 minutes. It was wonderful and I got goose bumps all over my body....isn't funny that I stayed in line more than an hour to see less than 15 minutes of beauty moments?!
Despite all I was glad that I got to see Hercochvitch's latest collection..it was magnificent!
Here are the fashionistas:
My felow blogger and a lovely tres chic fashionista. I loved the colors on both of them!
This blogger and Madame - my personal hostess - she asked this totally cool guy to take this pic..I actually thhink that he did not want to do it but he did anyway. He was wearing something out of this world ...very West Village meets Park Avenue and yields to an installation in Soho.
The girl above is a blogger from New York and she was lovely. We had such a good conversation and she told me that fashion bloggers are reaching status of celebrities ... one 15 years old girl was invited to Paris Fashion Week reads Haute Couture...seems like bloggers are capturing designer's attention and they want them to express they honest opinion about their collections.
She is invited to all the fashion gigs in Manhattan...ta meu bem!!! that means...you go girl!!!
I wanted to tell you that I found out the secret of keeping your body in shape just like a top model.
Among the munchs in the tent I 've found these chocolate covered bars that look sooooo yummy... after I have refused trying it for times my French friend insisted that I should bring some home since was free...complimentary sounds better and more fashion forward...so tonite I tried one of those yummy bars and look at my face below....oh goooooosh!!!
The bars are hooooo rrrrrri bleee !!!
I wonder if the Dutch models that are so IN now eat them on daily basis and drink water...lots of water to get rid of of that flavor.
I am not telling you the brand's name but my experience with most of those bars have not been very good. I can't believe that some people really like them.
For the first time in DaLiciuUs™ something that are not delicious at all!
Beijos! XoXo !!!

I gotta no time 4
Begining today I will be once a week posting about "something" - that can be a person, attitude, a place, a product - that I literally have no time for.
Just to express my indignation to certain things that in my humble opinion have no relevance and nobody should care at all.
Top of the day:
Tiger Woods apologizing to the entire nation...pleeeessssssssss...keep your tiger into the woods and move on with your life. I dont' care...who should care?! TRI RI DI CU LOUSSS !!!
Alexander McQueen - talent interrupted
Last Thursday the fashion world was caught by assault with the sudden death of Alexander McQueen...My level of perplexity was such high that I couldn't even process the news. The designer killed himself by hanging. His mother died on last February and its possible that he lost himself when he lost his mother. It's deeply sad to realize that such talented person will no longer provide beauty to our eyes and to our senses. I wasn't a big follower of his carrer but I had such admiration for his ability to transcend design concepts and bring surrealism to the fashion world.
The latest issue of Womens Wear Daily brings the designer on its cover and an pays homage to
his work with a 8 pages tribute. I am sure all the most important magazines will release a special issue on upcoming weeks.
I selected few moments of his extraordinary craftmanship and mindblowing design approach.

BOSSA NOVA CAKE
(cover of Dona's Cano cooking book written by her daughter Mabel Velloso -
cover picture of Dona Cano by Maria Sampaio )
I finally made one recipe from a fabulous cooking book given to me by a friend last year.
The books' name is "O sal e um dom - Receitas de Dona Cano " ( Corrupio and Nova Fronteira Publishing Co. - Brazil) by Mabel Velloso. I am sorry but I really couldn't find a good translation for this title so I don't want to make fool of myself.
I can tell you for sure that's about the art of adding the right ammount of salt to any dish...just enough to make it right and "magical" perhaps "surreal".
I can tell you for sure that's about the art of adding the right ammount of salt to any dish...just enough to make it right and "magical" perhaps "surreal".
It is like you are taking a tour through the pages of her mother's cooking diary. Mabel's mother is Dona Cano (Mrs. Cano), a popular lady who became an Ambassador of Santo Amaro da Purificacao, in the Brazilian state of Bahia, a small town that is located in the area known as "Reconcavo Bahiano", one the strongest cultural epicenter of the Brazilian culture. Dona Cano is a local celebrity due to her generosity, kindness and matriarcal figure, almost like a mother of all people from "Reconcavo".
I decided to make a coffee cake because I am addicted to cakes and I consider them the perfect companion for a good afternoon coffee. I had some friends over for a workshop and I served with sparkling Asti and it was absolutely phenomenal...definitely a daliciuus recipe...Dona Cano's bossa nova cake is incredibly flavorful and everybody loved it.
The book is not only a document that illustrates the richness and variety of the Brazilian comfort food cuisine but also a city-guide that takes you on a tour around the life style of a beautiful people who lives surrounded by fresh water, music and dance. I can't wait to try some of the other recipes.
above my "Bossa Nova" cake ... original recipe by Dona Cano...heaven!!!

THE IMAGINARIUM OF DOCTOR PARNASSUS
THIS IS THE MOVIE :
THE IMAGINARIUM OF DOCTOR PARNASSUS
My first post of the year is a cultural tip: please go see the last Heath Ledger movie. It's brilliant, imaginative surreal and if you like fantastic realism this is movie for you.
I saw last night and left the theater feeling so good about life in general and at same time sad for facing the reality that we no longer have an actor like Heath living on earth. He could bring so much for the entertainment industry still...it is so good to realize that there are brave actors like him...that really wanted to bring something unique and deeply beautiful to our lives.
I loved! The entire cast is phenomenal and everything is very magical.
I didn't give a sxxxx for the bad reviews that I read before heading to the theater...review from common people but I just wanted see and make my own conclusion. I like to read those reviews but they never change my desire of experiencing the sorry on my own terms.
I an a huge fan of mythology and this filled my deepest dreams and faiths about many things in life.
This movie is about living your truth, making choices, real love(or course), capitalism and hope.
Great acting, funny and very spiritual.
More movie tips will come.
Happy 2010!!!
Ps. sorry for the poor quality of the pics but I got it form the official website.
PS2. I did replace the really blurry pics for betther ones.

VERY CHIC !!!
I have been following some of the most recent looks of Demi Moore through many magazines. Demi Moore has aged incredibly well...it looks like she hasn't aged at all ... everytime I see a photo of her on the red carpet or at any other high profile event I get mesmerized by her natural beauty and by her outfit choices.
Everything from head to toe is impecable and she has been wearing incredible jewelry lately.
I believe that a great stylist might help a celebrity to build up a look but at the end what makes some of these fabulous, talented and gorgeous women to have a signature look is their own personal taste, their eyes for the beauty that exudes of every item they wear...accessories and clothing.
Here is one of my most recent looks by Demi Moore. Gorgeous! Chic and modern!
